Vietnam Embassy Snatch Patch

Vietnam Embassy Snatch Patch — Saigon Embassy Evacuation CH-46 Embroidered Patch

The last flight out of Saigon — Embassy Snatch, April 1975.

The Vietnam Embassy Snatch patch commemorates one of the most dramatic and emotionally charged operations in United States Marine Corps history — the helicopter evacuation of the American Embassy in Saigon on April 29–30, 1975, during the fall of South Vietnam. As North Vietnamese forces closed in on Saigon, Marine CH-46 Sea Knights from HMM-165 "White Knights" and other helicopter squadrons flew countless sorties from ships offshore to the embassy compound, extracting American personnel, embassy staff, and Vietnamese allies in a desperate race against time.

The "Embassy Snatch" nickname reflects the grim urgency of the operation — helicopters landing on the embassy rooftop and in the compound courtyard, Marines holding the perimeter against desperate crowds, and crew chiefs pulling evacuees aboard as the last vestiges of the American presence in Vietnam dissolved into chaos. The iconic image of a helicopter atop the embassy became one of the defining photographs of the 20th century. This patch honors the Marine helicopter crews who flew into that chaos and brought people to safety, embodying the Marine Corps' commitment to leaving no one behind.

Perfect For: Vietnam War helicopter veterans, HMM-165 White Knights alumni, CH-46 Sea Knight crew members, Saigon evacuation participants, Vietnam War historians, and military patch collectors who honor the bravery of the Embassy Snatch crews.

Last flight out — the Marines brought them home from Saigon.
