Mother of God "Do Not Lament Me"

In the "Do Not Lament Me" icon of the Mother of God, the Savior is seen being held by the Theotokos once He has reposed. Although, at this point, the Savior is dead, he is painted standing up in anticipation of the Resurrection. This icon is classically used at the lamentations service during Holy Week:

"Do not lament me, O Mother, seeing me in the tomb, the Son conceived in the womb without seed, for I shall arise and be glorified with eternal glory as God. I shall exalt all who magnify Thee in faith and love."
