This is a partial cluster of a reconstructed (much larger) formation. What is reconstructed? Well over the course of 450+ million years, the clusters sometimes separate at the meeting point. Earthquakes, temperature changes, ice flows, you name it - the weather in that much time sometimes has an effect. These are not "repairs", which implies a broken crystal. Pete, who has better eyes and far more patience than I, reconstructs them like a puzzle. Each crystal is fit back in the exact place it formed. It is really quite cool. The larger part of this formation was missing one key crystal that would have attached this one to the rest of it. Bummer. But it is still a spectacular specimen.
