180 Gram Vinyl — Analogue Productions Pablo Reissue

Count Basie occasionally cautioned young sidemen not to play bebop in his swing-rooted band — so how could he make an album with Dizzy Gillespie, one of the progenitors of bop? Happily. Before evolving bebop, Gillespie was a swing-era musician, and the two masters of time and the blues had no difficulty accommodating one another. This 1977 album is built on the blues, with Ray Brown on bass and Mickey Roker on drums.
